Evil triumphs when good men do nothing

I never thought that I would write an article on this site of mine about war, peace and a threat to not only an entire nation's existence, but mine, too. But as this website has some reach (there's around 75 000 of you each month), I feel that I have a responsibility to say and do something. On February 24th, 2022, the fascist oligarchy known as Russia attacked yet another one of its neighbors. That's almost not even newsworthy by itself - it's happened multiple times before.

    My 2025 Holiday Special - Windows 11 set-up fun!

My Windows 11 machine decided to go belly up just before Christmas, so I got to have some fun reinstalling Windows from scratch. I was hoping for a MacBook Pro for Christmas, but alas - it seems that Satan got me a fresh Windows installation to deal with instead. In this article I'll describe what happened and share my experience setting up a fresh Windows 11 installation — it wasn't pleasant. Maybe this will serve as feedback for Microsoft to improve the Windows setup experience.

Sharing your meeting recordings has never been more... Confusing!

This is not my typical blog post, where I introduce a problem, talk a little bit about the background, dive in to the technical stuff, rant for a while and then explain how to get around the issue (or even fix it!) No - this time, in the spirit of ranting, I'm just venting. Well, and in the process I do share what actually does work - so I guess it IS a normal blog post after all. But it IS rantier than usual. You have been warned!

How to fix "Decryption failed: Key not valid for use in specified state" in Azure CLI?

Ever thought Azure CLI was your reliable sidekick on Windows? Ha! You'd think so, until "Decryption failed: Key not valid for use in specified state" hits you out of nowhere. Fear not, though; for this is not just another Windows woe, but instead another fun trip down the rabbit hole that is authentication in the Microsoft world!

How to replace the default certificate in AKS?

Ah, the joys of Kubernetes wrangling – where even a "simple" cert swap feels like herding a bunch of ferrets on meth through a YAML labyrinth. Or so I've been led to believe by local ferret owners, when I tell them about my adventures with AKS. Anyway - this article explains how to replace the default certificate on an AKS cluster's ingress controllers.

Windows Juggernaut vs. a Cheap Mac: Speed Comparison

Ever wondered if shelling out for a top-tier Windows laptop really delivers the bang for your buck in development speed, or if a budget Mac mini could punch above its weight? Stop wondering, and start reading, because I've got the answers for you. As someone who's juggled both - a 4000 USD developer laptop (Dell XPS 14 with insane specs) and a 750 USD Mac mini that cost a fraction - I put them head-to-head in build speed tests.

How to fix a ReFS Dev Drive on Windows?

Ever tried editing a file on your ReFS Dev Drive only to get "This media is write-protected" or "unexpected error code 19"? Welcome to the non-deterministic future of operating systems, where a sneaky update or a rogue policy can all but brick your drive - while tools like diskpart and chkdsk claim there's nothing wrong. Buckle up for the failures: takeown/icacls flops, registry tweaks do nothing, and ReFS's locked metadata mocks NTFS fixes. The real culprit?

How to make Blazor Static support trailing slashes in URLs?

Oh, Blazor Static - the dazzling, lightning-fast static site generator that turns your Blazor components into HTML gold. One of the rare pieces of tech that makes me happy day after day that I'm using it for my static sites. Too bad it's a real diva when it comes to URLs! Stubborn enough to refuse to serve /about/ when /about works just fine. And sure - it's not really the library's fault. There is no server-side routing to handle the redirection between the two URL styles.

Using *instructions.md to encourage GitHub Copilot to behave

Ever wished GitHub Copilot could read your mind (or at least your repository's README)? You're not alone - it's time to turn your AI assistant into a well-behaved coding partner, who actually does what you want. Say "NO!" to more random changes and weird side paths. Let's learn how to customize Copilot's behavior so it aligns with your project's quirks and keeps the code fresh.

"Share to Yammer" truly is gone - what's next?

This article explains what happened to the "Share to Yammer" button, which was discontinued at the end of Q2 2025, and what you can do now. The historical context Yammer was acquired by Microsoft in 2012. At that time, Yammer was a popular enterprise social networking service, and Microsoft integrated it into its suite of productivity tools. Well, "integrated" might be a strong word. More like "added it to marketing materials". But I digress.

Extend Your Windows 10 Experience for Another Year 🥰

This article explains how you can keep using Windows 10 for another year, even though Microsoft has officially ended support for it. Background (rant) I'm not going to lie - right now I would not buy a Windows computer. It just feels like a risk you don't need to take. And I would know! I have bought 3 Windows machines in the last 3 years, costing me (or my employer) 4000, 2500 and 750 euros respectively.

How to query a term + children in SharePoint Search (KQL)?

In this article, I'll get back to basics of KQL in SharePoint Online's Search Service, and explain how to target a Managed Metadata term and its children. Maybe everyone else just remembers how to do this straight off the bat, and how the service behaves in different scenarios... But I don't. And googling gave me a bunch of low confidence results. Which I had very low confidence in. So here we are. I needed to try this out again, and document it for future reference.

LEDs Are Blinking But Nobody's Home - Dell XPS 15

This article explains how to diagnose and fix a Dell XPS 15 laptop that won't start, indicated by blinking LED lights. It includes a list of blink codes and a step-by-step guide to resetting the BIOS. And a lengthy rant about Dell and the state of Windows laptops in 2020s 🙃 Background Ah, Dell XPS 15, my favorite laptop to hate on. 1.5 years of a love-hate relationship, with very little love and a lot of hate. Don't get me wrong. I have loved Windows since I first got started on Windows 3.11.

How to authenticate against SAP SF OData endpoints in .NET?

This article explains how to obtain OAuth access tokens for SAP SuccessFactors OData endpoints using the SAML 2.0 Bearer Assertion flow. I wouldn't normally write about SAP. It's one of the TLAs that gives me shivers, and I'd rather stay away from it. But the corporations do love it - almost as much as they love Workday - so deal with it we must! I'd also normally post my articles on Tuesdays - but this one was so painful to finish that it'll roll out when it's done.

CollabDays Finland 2025 was great - get the slides and demos here!

CollabDays Finland/Helsinki was last week, and boy was it an interesting trip! I feel super fortunate having the opportunity to do some fun traveling for work, and the privilege to speak and meet people at these community events. I was presenting a session with Gautam Sheth, an old friend from the fabled Valo days. We talked about our experiences (and challenges) with the M365 Agents SDK, and how to build M365 Copilot extensions with it.

Why M365 Agents SDK Should Be on Your Radar

This article explains some of the pros and cons of the M365 Agents SDK: The ambitious successor to Teams Toolkit, and why you should care about it. I'm also sharing some of my and my peers experiences developing with it. Background Microsoft really, really REALLY wants to be THE Enterprise AI company, and place Copilot as the UI for AI.

M365 Agents SDK SSO broken - how to fix it?

There are a lot of ways SSO can break for your bot or agent on Teams/M365 Copilot/any other M365 app. I don't even know how to explain the extensibility in M365 now, so this word salad is what you get. Anyway in this article, I'll explain how to fix one of the possible ways your setup might be broken. Background I've been working on and off with M365 Agents SDK (and Teams Toolkit before) for a while now, and have some strong opinions about it.
